SEGGER J-Trace streaming trace probes provide detailed insight into the runtime behavior of embedded software. By capturing complete instruction traces over extended periods, J-Trace helps developers analyze program execution, identify hard-to-reproduce problems and optimize application performance.
Overview: J-Trace Trace Probe
SEGGER J-Trace is a family of professional streaming trace probes for detailed analysis of embedded software execution. Unlimited streaming trace, Live Code Profiling and Live Code Coverage help developers investigate difficult software problems, analyze performance and understand program behavior over extended periods.
J-Trace supports Windows, macOS and Linux and integrates with a wide range of embedded development environments. SEGGER's Ozone debugger provides additional trace analysis capabilities independent of the compiler toolchain.
Different J-Trace PRO models support Arm Cortex-M, Cortex-A/R/M and RISC-V targets, combining high-speed streaming trace with full J-Link debug functionality.

J-Trace PRO
J-Trace PRO is setting a new standard for trace probes. It enables continuous streaming trace, lifting the limitations by internal buffers and slow data transmission to give you all the insights you need to develop and optimize your code.
J-Trace PRO can capture complete traces over long periods—thereby enabling the recording of infrequent,
hard-to-reproduce bugs. This is particularly helpful when the program flow 'runs off the rails' and stops in
a fault state.
It also supports extended trace features, such as code coverage (so engineers have visibility over which
parts of the application code have been executed) and execution profiling (providing visibility as to which
instructions have been executed and how often—so hotspots can be addressed and optimization
opportunities identified).
J-Trace PRO Cortex-A/R/M
Overview
SEGGER's J-Trace PRO-A/R/M can capture complete traces over long periods — thereby enabling the recording of infrequent, hard-to-reproduce bugs. This is particularly helpful when the program flow 'runs off the rails' and stops in a fault state.
It also supports extended trace features, such as Live Code Coverage (so engineers have visibility over which parts of the application code have been executed) and Live Code Profiling (providing visibility as to which instructions have been executed and how often, so hotspots can be addressed and optimization opportunities identified).
The J-Trace PRO Cortex-A/R/M provides support for Cortex-A/R/M-based microcontrollers. The Superspeed USB 3.0 interface of J-Trace PRO enables continuous streaming trace via USB with the full trace clock. Streaming in real time allows for data capture over long periods of time because there is no limit set on the amount of trace data. This gives you all the insight you need to develop and optimize your code.
J-Trace PRO Cortex-M
Features
SEGGER's J-Trace PRO-M can capture complete traces over long periods — thereby enabling the recording of infrequent, hard-to-reproduce bugs.
The J-Trace PRO Cortex-M provides support for Cortex-M-based microcontrollers. Its SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface enables continuous streaming trace at full trace clock speed. Since trace data can be streamed continuously to the host computer, developers can capture and analyze system behavior over extended periods without being limited by an internal trace buffer.
J-Trace PRO RISC-V
Overview
SEGGER's J-Trace PRO RISC-V can capture complete traces over long periods — thereby enabling the recording of
infrequent, hard-to-reproduce bugs. This is particularly helpful when the program flow 'runs off the rails' and
stops in a fault state.
The J-Trace PRO RISC-V provides support for RISC-V-based microcontrollers. With its superspeed USB 3.0
interface, J-Trace PRO RISC-V enables continuous streaming trace via USB with full trace clock. It enables a far-
reaching and complete analysis, offering fast and efficient data analysis, ensuring higher productivity while also
lowering development risks and costs.
